TERMINAL LEARNING OBJECTIVE (TLO):
TLO#1: The students will learn how to operate and maintain all the different technologies that are used in a screening checkpoint and how to properly screen for threats.
ENABLING LEARNING OBJECTIVES (ELO’S):
ELO#1: Set up and Operate the Walk-Through Metal Detector and screen for threats hidden on a person’s body
ELO#2: Set up and Operate the hand-held metal detector and properly screen a person for threats
ELO#3: Set up and Operate the X-ray machine and screen bags and packages for threats
ELO#4: Identify the proper procedures for clearing an alarm if a threat is detected
ELO#5: Explain the capabilities and limitations of the screening systems and alternate procedures for detecting the threats that they cannot identify
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The Guard Force refresher training course for checkpoint screening operations is designed to meet the annual training requirements for a guard force that maintains and operates a screening checkpoint. The course is designed to provide refresher training your security staff on the proper methods to operate the x-ray, walk through metal detector and hand-held metal detector. The course will cover all the proper set up and calibration procedures for each piece of equipment that guards should be conducting prior to screening operations. Students will also be recertified on the operation of each piece of equipment per the original equipment manufacturers (OEM) published procedures. The course will cover in depth how each piece of equipment responds to all of the different types of threats that they can encounter at the checkpoint. Students will also learn the how to resolve alarms and the event of the implementation of the facilities emergency action plan. The training package also includes a written assessment of your screening checkpoint and how to improve your operations and or equipment. The course is taught by DHS/FLETC certified instructors who are Former US Marshal Judicial Security inspectors who have designed and managed Federal Courthouses large guard contracts and screening checkpoints. Course cost does NOT includes instructor travel and will be quoted separately and is based on GSA per Diem rates.
STUDENT REQUIREMENTS: Must be familiar with the checkpoint screening equipment
EQUIPMENT: Must have access to facilities screening equipment, SOP, and emergency action plan
TESTING: Written test
