18 AWG 2 conductor stranded wire is a more reliable blasting wire as it is stranded vs solid core. When a solid core wire is stressed, and the wire is cut you will lose continuity. With stranded wire is less prone to loss of continuity due to the multiple strands. 

This wire is also coated with a fireproof coating that protects it better than single strand solid core thin wire. If you want to make sure your shots detonate switching to 18 awg stranded wire is the more logical choice.
